Avoidable tragedy

Yes, after a gap of 17 years struggle, the King has finally succeeded in fulfilling, not only his dreams, but also the dreams of past members of RCB like AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle and of course the Kannadigas. Finally, after 17 years of struggles, they proved that "Bangalore Can". At the same time, the joy was short lived, mainly due to the callous attitude of Karnataka State Govt. and their Cricket Association, who should have arranged their celebration on a Holiday.

In their over enthusiasm, they forgot that their foremost duty is protection of the cricket fans and not their own. There was inadequate police personnel to protect the cricket fans, who turned out in lakhs.

This took away the life of 11 cricket fans, most of them in their young age and scores were injured severely. Ironically, instead of owning their mistakes, they blamed the cricket fans, which is not digestible. Now that the Karnataka Government has ordered a Judicial Inquiry, we sincerely hope that they would be sincere in their inquiry and try to fix the responsibility on the guilty.

We also hope that the Judges would fix a sizeable compensation to the bereaved and injured families, which should be shared by both the Congress Govt. and the cricketers who earned crores by winning this elusive Trophy.
