Golden boy!

Golden boy of Indian cricket Shubham Gill has been appointed the new captain of India’s Test team. Gill has been in great form for a few years and he is successfully leading the team of Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has exhibited his leadership skills in the IPL and that might have gone in his favour for the leadership role. No doubt, Gill has been the most consistent young player in the team, across all formats.

The Indian team is set to travel to England for the Test series starting next month under the leadership of Gill. I hope he shows his skills as a leader during his maiden Test series and cements his position, though this is not an easy assignment for him. He has to work hard. I am sure Gill will take tips before departing for England from his senior players. The series against England will be like a litmus test for the new captain. I hope he comes out with flying colours. Let’s see how he endures the pressure of leading a national team.
