We do not know whether to laugh or cry over this statement that the “inflation cools to 6-year low of 3.16%,” as the cost of vegetables, fruits, pulses, oils have touched the sky. No vegetable is available for less than Rs80 per kilo in the retail market.
Beans, which were costing Rs40 per kg. last month, now cost Rs150/- per kg. Less said about the prices of pulses and oils, which too has doubled during the past one year, the better.
The only cut we have experienced is reduction in the Term Deposit interest in Banks, with which most of the senior citizens survive. We are afraid whether the Indian government officials do visit the retail shops to assess the ground reality!
