Firstly the Mumbai Indians must thank the butter fingered fielders of Gujarat Titans, who enabled them to set a target of 155 to win in 20 overs. But for the dropped catches, especially of Jack and Suryakumar Yadav, that too during the first power play, they would not have even crossed 120. Hats off to Gujarat Titans bowlers, especially the spinners, who restricted the mighty Mumbai Indians to 155, that too after a healthy 3rd wicket partnership between Jack & SKY. With the weather threat, it was a tough task for Gujarat Titans, who unfortunately lost their man in form early to put pressure on them.
The weather conditions too helped the Mumbai Indians pace bowlers to choke the flow of runs. At the end of five overs, the Gujarat Titans was trailing far behind the DL target. But the first ball of over six was carted for a six by Butler, which prompted the Mumbai Indians Captain to slow down the over to force a DL decision, as it was drizzling. Thankfully the field umpire advised the captain not waste time. But, anticipating heavy rain, the Mumbai Indians Captain opted for Time Out at the end of over 6, which, of course is within rule. But taking into account the rain threat, he should have been sporting and bowled at least a couple of overs, before taking the time out.
But the God was great and helped GI to play another 5 overs and take a healthy lead under DL rule, and enabled them to win the match honorably.
