India and Pakistan are nuclear armed countries. It’s so unfortunate that the relationship between India and Pakistan never improved with the passing of time. The deadly dispute between both the countries, Kashmir, remains alive which is a matter of serious concern not only for India and Pakistan but it has serious consequences on the rest of the world as well (“UN chief urges India, Pakistan to step back from brink of war,” May 5, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, nuclear-armed rivals Pakistan and India must exert “maximum restraint” and step back from the brink of war, UN chief Antonio Guterres urged on Monday, as tensions between the South Asian neighbours soared. New Delhi has blamed Islamabad for backing a deadly attack on tourists on the Indian side of the disputed region of Kashmir last month, sparking a series of heated threats and diplomatic tit-for-tat measures.
The world needs peace. War is not the solution to any conflict between two countries. There’s nothing impossible to achieve in this world. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. It’s high time for both the leadership in Pakistan and India to understand the situation and bring the already high temperature down for the sake of their own people.
