It is really painful to see Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL Champion team, bowing out of this IPL season, that too without any fight. After their first match win against Mumbai Indians, when everything clicked, we thought it was going to be another title for CSK. Alas, as the tournament progressed, the performance of CSK players deteriorated to be the worst.
Of course, for this the franchise owners should own their failure to retain their match winners and not going for better players during the auction. They preferred to play with the tried and tested aged players, who have proved to be no match for the youngsters.
Most of our existing players, including MS Dhoni, have passed their prime and it is time for them to quit and guide the youngsters. Though their match against Punjab Kings was better, our players just threw away their wickets, that too during the penultimate over, which was suicidal.
If only they had added another 10 to 15 runs in 12 balls, who knows CSK could have won the match and lived for the race. In a nutshell, the main reason for the early exit of CSK is their failure in all departments of the game, which needs introspection. It is time for CSK to wake up soon and roar next season.
