My friends celebrated Easter on Sunday. Like every year I wished all of them through Zoom. I could see all of them after a long time. I feel how technology has become so useful for us. I am based in Dubai and my friends are in London, Portugal, Texas, New Delhi, Bihar, Ranchi and Abu Dhabi. All are in different parts of the world and they are in different time zones but technology has made us connected.
I remember we would make Easter, New Year, birthday and Eid greetings cards at home. It would take weeks to make those cards. We had to send those cards at least two weeks before if it had to be delivered in India and a month before if abroad. Then we would get reply after a month.
Life was so different then. Now on WhatsApp we send greetings and get the reply in minutes. I feel fortunate to have seen both the worlds. Now when I tell my 15-year-old daughter about that she can’t believe because when she was born WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram were already in vogue. She can’t imagine it would take months to communicate with somebody. But I marvel at the technological advancement.
