I have returned from my annual vacation on Tuesday and got to know through a newspaper that Safeer Mall, Sharjah’s iconic mall, has been shut down for forever. I don’t know why the management has decided to wind up their project but I am emotionally attached to this mall. This was the first mall I had started going to after coming to Sharjah. I have always liked it for having a huge parking area. They had varieties in every department be it vegetables, meat or other items. That’s why I had opted to stay near the mall. I remember it was on March 27, 2007, when I had gone to buy water, juice and other stuff for the first time. Since then I have rarely gone anywhere else. I felt nostalgic when I heard the mall was closed.
I remember when I started going to the mall then I was alone here, a few years later my wife joined me, then we would visit there for our grocery needs. Then my daughter was born and she also started liking the play area which was very huge. She grew up in that area. It was a sort of family affair for us. The best part of this mall was that all the employees were very good and they would help us a lot. Many times they had helped me to get my trolley fit in my car. I am going to miss the Safeer Mall for sure.
