It’s a very encouraging statement by the Taliban’s acting deputy foreign minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai who called on his senior leadership to open schools for Afghan girls, as the girls’ education is a burning issue (“Taliban call for girls’ high schools to open,” Jan.21, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, the Taliban’s acting deputy foreign minister called on his senior leadership to open schools for Afghan girls, among the strongest public rebukes of a policy that has contributed to the international isolation of its rulers. Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, who previously led a team of negotiators at the Taliban’s political office in Doha before US forces withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021.
The Taliban’s acting deputy foreign minister’s statement shows the willingness of fulfilling the commitment Taliban made during the negotiations at the Taliban’s political office in Doha.
In Islam the girls have the equal right to get education as the boys. I am sure sense will prevail in the Afghan government and will allow girls to continue their education and play a vital role in and outside the country as well.
