I had just returned from Friday prayer and noticed that there was some issue with power supply in a few parts of Sharjah. I thought it might be my building issue but later when my phone started ringing then I got to know that more areas of Sharjah had issues. It was a very hot day and we all had just returned from the mosque. There was a little discomfort for everyone but that experience took me to my childhood days when we would get only a few hours of power in my hometown whether it was peak summer or winter.  We knew the timings of power cuts so we would finish our studies before that. Women of the house would finish dinner before the power cut began. It was a very common practice in late 80s and 90s. And we had no issue at all. We had accepted that system.  Nobody would crib or complain. Those were the lovely days. Mobile phone was unheard of. AC was beyond our imagination. We were perhaps physically strong also to brace for tough conditions. But I saw my neighbours in the building had started feeling discomfort when they realised there was no power supply. I reminded them about our childhood days in India. Power supply was restored within an hour and the efficient team of SEWA rushed to the sites to restore it. I really appreciate the SEWA team for working hard for us. They deserve praise for their work.
