His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday opened the “Awal Al Khulafaa Al Rashideen” mosque in Al Khan, Sharjah. Sheikh Sultan was given a detailed explanation of the mosque, including its construction specifications, the facilities annexed to it, and the services available to worshippers, as the mosque serves a densely populated area. The mosque was built in memory of the late Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, who passed away in January 2014. It is a great gift to us. I live nearby and was waiting for this mosque to open. I am so happy to see it opened just before Ramadan. The total capacity of the mosque is 1,300 worshippers, on a total area of 4,353.6 square metres, of which 939.35 square metres are for the building. The area for male worshippers in the mosque is 837.5 square metres and it accommodates 1,170 worshippers, while the area for female worshippers is 91.35 square metres and it accommodates 130 worshippers.
