Who can believe it’s nearly the end of 2022? This week we are looking back on a year of film and we have made a list of some of the movies we think were the best to come out over the past year. While there were many to choose from, we think our choices are definitely worth watching.

One of Hollywood’s most revered directors just now is Jordan Peele. He had a hit this year with his movie “Nope” starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, both of whom are incredibly popular actors right now. The sci-fi horror movie centres around a pair of siblings who experience something strange at their ranch in California. The pair explore the world of extraterrestrial life wondering if they have been visited by a UFO.

“Memoria” is a fantasy drama starring the brilliant Tilda Swinton as a botanist who is haunted by a single noise. The character of Jessica appears to be the only one who can hear this mysterious sound which prevents her from sleeping as she hears it over and over again. This movie also has an extraterrestrial theme with aliens making another visit. The film is directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Probably one of the biggest movies of the year is the musical biopic “Elvis” starring Austin Butler as the iconic king of rock and roll. The actor received great reviews for his performance which he prepared for by studying as much footage as he could of the late Elvis Presley. The role has generated Oscar buzz for Butler and I really think he deserves at least a nomination.
