Being Bachchan

Amitabh-SIBF

Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan turned 80 on Tuesday. Social media was flooded with lots of messages. People from all walks of life expressed their feelings, be it Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, or south Indian superstar Rajinikanth, Mammooty or Shah Rukh Khan. His fans in Mumbai waited outside his home to wish him and get a glimpse of the Shahenshah of Bollywood.  Amitabh is an epitome of simplicity and grace. He is known for his work ethic. Having achieved so much, he remained humble throughout his career. He has never ever indulged in any kind of controversy.

Even at 80, he works for more than 12 hours a day. Having started his career in the 70s, he is the only actor I remember in Bollywood who remains relevant even today. The way he has adapted himself to the passage of time shows his greatness. If we look at his filmography from “Deewar,” “Sholay,” “Cheeni Kum,” “Baghban” to “Goodbye,” he has done almost every role an actor can wish to do in his lifetime. Apart from films, Amitabh is loved, watched and admired by every Indian for his most popular TV show “Kaun Banega Crorepati.” The way he carries himself during the show clearly shows Indian culture and tradition. Use of Hindi language during the show is also amazing. I hope younger generations learn the art of speaking from him.
