Red Cresent UAE

The Red Crescent Society has been on the forefront of charitable work in the UAE and abroad.

The Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates authority was founded in Abu Dhabi in 1983 with support of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

This authority is working in all the aspects of the life to help not only the poor, but whole society. Hat off to this charitable forum for its work in Yemen as the Emirates Red Crescent’s (ERC) mobile clinic provided healthcare services to 543 beneficiaries in July 2022 in the Hadhramaut Governorate (“Emirates Red Crescent’s mobile clinic helps hundreds of Yemenis,” Aug.7, Gulf Today).

I am happy to read that this is part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and deliver healthcare services to remote areas. Meanwhile, Dr Wajdi Al Akberi, the supervisor of the medical team, said the clinic provides free healthcare services and medicines to people living in far-flung areas. He added that 15,784 beneficiaries had so far benefited from the clinic services. Its main objectives are to carry out Red Cross operations on a systematic basis throughout the UAE and other parts of the world as well. In 1997, the role of the Authority had been enhanced by the acceptance of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, for the position of the honorary president of the UAE Red Crescent. In 2001, the UAE Red Crescent had been selected as the second best humanitarian Authority at the level of the continent of Asia.
