I believe that one of the reasons Imran Khan became the prime minister of Pakistan was the Panama Papers. The way Imran Khan started movement on the basis of Panama Papers against the corrupt elite of Pakistan who were occupying power corridors that time, it ultimately resulted in Khan succeeding in de-seating then prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif (“Pakistan PM Imran vows to investigate all citizens named in ‘Pandora Papers,’” Oct.5, Gulf Today).

Imran Khan promised to “investigate” all citizens connected to a massive probe into the hidden wealth of politicians worldwide, after members of his inner circle were implicated in the report.

“If any wrongdoing is established we will take appropriate action,” the prime minister said in a series of tweets. “We welcome the Pandora Papers exposing the ill-gotten wealth of elites, accumulated through tax evasion & corruption & laundered out to financial ‘havens,’” Imran said in a long Twitter thread.

Pakistani media made headlines when they said Prime Minister Khan’s name has emerged in the Pandora Papers, and one of the Pakistan Muslim Leagues (N) leaders, Ahsan Iqbal, demanded Imran Khan resign from his seat on the basis of the Pandora Papers revelations.

Despite the Pakistani media outlets reports, the brave leader of Pakistan, Imran Khan — who is already declared by the Supreme Court of Pakistan as “Sadiq and Ameen” in the 2017 case based on Panama Papers — has formed a high-powered cell to investigate the revelations by the Pandora Papers, and make corrupt people accountable.

Pakistan has suffered economically a lot because of its corrupt elite who robbed the money of poor people of Pakistan and built huge properties abroad.
