Right now is definitely a good time for music documentaries. We seem to love nothing better than watching movies about our favourite singers and bands. This week we are taking a look at some of the best documentaries on music artists and finding out why they are so popular.

In the American documentary film “Miss Americana,” that came out in 2020, we see a year in the life of superstar pop singer Taylor Swift. The documentary from director Lana Wilson examines a phenomenal time for Swift when she went from being a music star to becoming a really influential woman. The film tells a real and raw account of Swift’s life covering serious moments like her eating disorder and how she dealt with news of her mother’s cancer diagnosis. The film was nominated for several awards and won a few too.

The English band bros formed in 1986 consisting of twin brothers Matt and Luke Goss and their friend Craig Logan. They had hits in the 80s until Logan left and the duo continued, brought out two more albums until they eventually split up in 1992. “Bros: After the Screaming Stops” is a documentary film about the band, directed by Joe Pearlman and David Soutar. The film shows the brothers three weeks before their London reunion shows after not playing together since Wembley Stadium in 1989. It was nominated for three BAFTA awards and won one for editing.

In other news this week, turn to our Fitness pages to read about how you can get your children into tennis. After the win of British teenager Emma Raducanu at the US Open, a lot of parents are wondering if they could be raising a future Grand Slam winner. Tennis is beneficial for children in many ways not only physically but psychologically too.
