There are a lot of things going on in the news about which, I think, no one gives two hoots.

Open any paper and the images of the British Royal Family are plastered all over the place. If it isn’t Prince Phillip being admitted into hospital, it’s the Prince of Wales visiting him or Prince William visiting him and then giving the press a discreet nod that he’s fine. If it isn’t Princess Eugenie telling everyone the name of her new baby then it’s Prince Harry and Meghan saying they no longer wish to be part of the Royal Family’s official party. They say they no longer wish to be official Royals but insist on being seen to be the Royals. I think that for a couple who wish to lead semi-normal lives, they are certainly in the spotlight all the time, and a lot of the time it’s at their own behest.

If a royal couple wish to be invisible they can certainly make that happen. Sure, in today’s internet driven media world it’s a lot harder to disappear than it was for The Queen’s uncle, Edward, and his American wife, Mrs Simpson, but surely keeping your head down would do the trick? But both Harry and Meghan insist on doing interviews and writing provocative books that are destined to rile up the Royal Family. Does that sound like not wanting to be part of the Royals anymore? And to be honest with you, with most people’s lives turned upside down in the last year, does anyone really care what’s happening with the Royal Family? I don’t think so.

And if people didn’t care too much about what’s happening to Harry and Meghan, I think they care even less about what’s happening with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. I couldn’t understand why anyone would want to keep up with the Kardashians. In case you didn’t know, the latest news is that Kim Kardashian may be divorcing Kanye West. I’ll tell you what I think is going on here. If you recall that both he and his wife visited President Trump at the White House on separate occasions and for different reasons. After their visits I think West probably thought that because he was rubbing shoulders with the then President he had a shot at being nominated by the Republican Party for the 2020 election. But he never ran, or if he tried, he didn’t get very far. I’m sorry to say this but I doubt that the Republicans would ever have nominated West as their candidate for president.

Now methinks that Kim Kardashian fancied herself as America’s next First Lady. I suspect that she now assumes that the White House ship has sailed permanently now that Democrats control the White House so there’s no reason to stay with him. Maybe I am wrong and there are irreconcilable differences between them but, again, does anyone care about Keeping Up With The Kardashians?

But one person who could get nominated by the Democrats is actor Jim Carrey, that is if he ever decided to run. Now I wasn’t aware, until President Trump was elected, that Jim Carrey was a man of many talents. Actor, comedian and cartoonist. Throughout President Trump’s time in office, he would post demeaning cartoons that he drew of the president on Twitter. Yes they were amusing and yes he can draw but Jim Carrey has just announced that he won’t be drawing anymore politically charged cartoons now that President Trump is no longer in office. Does anyone care whether he does or not?

But I’ll bet one actor who is secretly not quite happy that President Trump has left office is actor Alec Baldwin, even though he is a Democrat. Throughout Trump’s four-year term in office, whenever the show Saturday Night Live did a skit involving Donald Trump, which was almost every other week, Baldwin was the go-to guy to play him. To be fair, Baldwin looked and played the part so well that he even riled up the real POTUS. But Baldwin says didn’t really like playing the role and is happy he no longer needs to.  But secretly he must be just a teeny bit disappointed because surely he has lost a regular gig. They will now have to find someone who can mimic President Biden.

I know that we would all like a little respite from our harrowing lives but at the same time I feel that these little tidbits are just little tidbits that we could all sometimes do without.
