Rebooting old television shows is nothing new, and it doesn’t look like the trend will be slowing down anytime soon. This week we take a look at why this formula works, as well as some of the latest TV series to be brought out again.

According to some professionals in the TV industry, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to launch new shows and make them popular. This is why networks are delving into the past and rebooting shows. It’s a safe option and it usually works.

Rumour has it that the popular comedy show Saved by the Bell will be coming back to life this year. The show ran for four seasons from 1989-92 and starred Mario Lopez, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Dustin Diamond and Elizabeth Berkley. The show spawned two spin-off series as well as two TV movies, but nothing has been released since 2000. Lark Voorhies, who also starred in the original series, has spoken out about her disappointment in being left out of the reboot.

With all the remakes and reboots floating around, one show remains untouched. The hugely successful comedy series Friends is yet to be brought back in spite of talk of a remake being heard for a while now. Personally, I do not think they should bring this one back. It was too good and still is so good to watch and should really be left alone.
