Why more missiles?

Russia tests missile

World leaders need to invest in technology that can eradicate poverty, hunger, restore climatic change, and improve medicine.

Russia launched a new intercontinental weapon which is believed to fly at a speed of 27 times the speed of sound (“Russia deploys first hypersonic missile unit”, Dec.28, Gulf Today). Along with the arrival of this new weapon, Putin said that Russia is now leading the world in developing a new class of weapons.

But why do we need new weapons? Haven’t we seen the effects of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan? That missile burnt every plant, animal, left radioactive rains and caused cancers. Then why are still countries investing in newer weapon technology.

To reduce the possibility of pushing citizens into poverty, world leaders must refrain from investing in nuclear and biological weapons. It does not matter which country possesses them as there is always a constant risk that the weapons might fall in the hands of terrorists.

World leaders need to invest in technology that can eradicate poverty, hunger, restore climatic change, and improve medicine. When all leaders consider themselves responsible for the future of their citizens, only then will they come up with ideas to brighten the future of their citizens.
