As we step into the New Year, I am excited, because I have been eagerly awaiting the World Expo 2020, since Dubai was announced as the host. It is one event I don’t want to miss. I have been regularly following the bulletins pertaining to the mega show, and it looks like it is going to be spectacular (“Dubai Chamber named as an official partner of Expo 2020”, Nov.18, Gulf Today).

It is not just me who is feeling the buzz, most of my colleagues and friends in the circuit are equally enthused. It is also a great honour for the country, and from what I see, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to make it an Expo worth remembering. The groundbreaking engineering feat — Expo 2020’s iconic Al Wasl dome — will no doubt give it a stellar touch, making it a must-visit event for not only business houses and the likes but also for visitors.

The leadership of the country needs praise for hosting the global event — the first Expo to be staged in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region in the 168-year history of the event.

It is going to be six months of fun and excitement come October 20. Can’t wait for it to get going.
