When it comes to movies, a plot twist can make or break a film depending on the audience’s reaction to it. This week we are taking a look at some of the most jaw-dropping plot twists in cinematic history. Be warned, there are some spoilers ahead.

In 2016’s Arrival starring Amy Adams and directed by Denis Villeneuve, viewers are treated to a major plot twist involving aliens and flashbacks, which turn out to be flash-forwards. The science fiction movie received great reviews with audiences revelling in the unexpected switch in reality.

Gone Girl was another movie with a great plot twist. I still remember when this came out back in 2014, everyone was talking about it and going to the cinema to watch it. Rosamund Pike basically fakes her own abduction framing her husband in revenge for his affair. It did make for a thrilling view so if you haven’t seen this already make sure to watch it this weekend.

Million Dollar Baby won Best Picture at the Oscars back in 2014. Starring Hilary Swank and Clint Eastwood, the movie starts off being about an amateur boxer’s determination to reach the top. However, after she breaks her neck, the film takes on a whole different meaning.
