Stampede at Pakistani TikToker Mr Patlu's wedding leaves two dead

A wedding celebration hosted by popular Pakistani TikToker Mr Patlu turned tragic after a stampede at his mehndi ceremony in Sialkot, leaving at least two people dead and several others injured.

The incident took place at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road, where a large crowd had gathered to attend the ceremony of Muhammad Ansar Jatt, popularly known as Mr Patlu.

The TikToker had announced a prize draw at the event, offering a car and several motorcycles to lucky winners.

The announcement attracted a huge crowd, with people travelling from different parts of Punjab to attend the celebration.

According to police, the situation turned dangerous when the organisers opened the ground gates, prompting large numbers of people to rush towards the entrance simultaneously. The crowd surged forward, causing several people to fall and become trapped under others.

One of the victims, 30-year-old Muhammad Aqeel, died while being taken to hospital. Another injured man, identified as Rehan, was taken to Lahore for treatment but later died from his injuries, according to Pakistani media reports.

Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene and helped transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Some attendees also took injured people to private hospitals for treatment.

Following the incident, police registered a case against Mr Patlu and others involved in organising the event. The case also names several unidentified individuals.

Police have arrested six suspects and are continuing their investigation.

According to police, the event organisers may have failed to comply with safety regulations and the conditions imposed for holding the gathering.

Authorities are also trying to arrest Mr Patlu, who had not been taken into custody at the time of the latest reports.

The district administration has also cancelled permission for the remaining wedding celebrations, according to media reports.
