Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has confirmed that failure to obtain a Civil Defence license or a certificate of compliance with fire prevention and safety requirements carries a fine of Dhs10,000. The penalty is stipulated under violation No. 69 in the general violations category, pursuant to UAE Cabinet Decision No. 24 of 2012 regulating Civil Defense services in the country.
The Authority clarified that the provisions apply to all existing buildings and facilities, as well as those under construction across the UAE, with the exception of independent private residential homes. The regulation therefore specifies both the facilities subject to the violation and the exemption.
Raising awareness of this violation highlights the importance of maintaining the required fire prevention and safety documentation. The central requirement is to ensure that the relevant license or compliance certificate is in place, taking into account the regulation’s scope and exemption.
The Authority also emphasised that building and facility owners and managers must familiarize themselves with the requirements for obtaining these documents. Understanding the applicable requirements and penalties helps ensure that those responsible are aware of their fire prevention and safety obligations and the fines for non-compliance.
