The Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has announced the successful completion of the first phase of Al Hudaiba gas and condensate field development project. This milestone more than doubles the corporation’s current gas production and strengthens long-term energy security for the Emirate of Sharjah.
Discovered in May 2024 northeast of the Sajaa gas field, Al Hudaiba moved from discovery to production in record time through an accelerated evaluation and development programme. SNOC achieved first gas production less than a year after the field’s discovery.
The first phase covered all essential activities, including drilling appraisal wells, analysing data, constructing gas-gathering infrastructure, laying pipelines and completing commissioning.
SNOC has already begun preparations for the next phase of development, accelerating efforts to increase production by 2027. The field is expected to reach stable production rates by 2028, making a significant contribution to meeting the Emirate’s future energy demand.
Khamis Al Mazrouei, CEO of SNOC, said Al Hudaiba is one of Sharjah’s most significant gas development projects in recent years and a cornerstone of the corporation’s long-term growth strategy.
He noted that completing the first phase and bringing the field into production in record time demonstrates SNOC’s ability to move efficiently from discovery to implementation while responding to the Emirate’s growing energy needs. He added that the next phase of development will further strengthen the field’s role in supporting energy security and delivering long-term value to Sharjah.
SNOC completed the project despite logistical challenges and supply constraints, including regional shipping disruptions and limited material availability. This achievement highlights the corporation’s ability to manage complex projects and deliver them on accelerated schedules.
Masood Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Exploration and Production at SNOC, emphasised that appraisal results confirmed the reservoir’s quality and suitable pressure characteristics. He added that the promising production performance observed across the field reinforces confidence in its long-term commercial viability and its future contribution to meeting Sharjah’s energy needs.
