The Government of Sharjah has temporarily closed Al Hamriyah Beach as a precautionary measure to prevent potential marine pollution following an oil spill from a maritime tanker.
Specialised teams and the relevant authorities in the emirate have begun implementing the necessary measures to protect the coastline and prevent the spread of oil pollution to the beach.
The response aims to safeguard the marine environment and ensure public safety while efforts are underway to address the potential risks associated with the spill. Authorities have urged fishermen, beachgoers and other members of the public to comply with the instructions issued by the concerned entities until further notice.
They stressed that adherence to the precautionary measures is essential to protect the community and support ongoing efforts to contain the situation.
The public has also been advised to obtain updates and information exclusively through official channels and to refrain from circulating unverified reports or rumours. The temporary closure forms part of the emirate’s precautionary efforts to minimise the environmental impact of the incident and protect its coastal areas from possible pollution.
