Nickolay Mladenov
"My years at the United Nations gave me a first-hand understanding of the leadership the organisation needs at its most challenging moments. Such leadership requires deep institutional knowledge, the ability to build bridges and find common ground, and the resolve to act before crises deepen. H.E. Lana Nusseibeh has demonstrated these qualities over more than a decade at the UN in New York, twice presiding over the Security Council during the UAE’s 2022–2023 term, advancing humanitarian action and supporting efforts to reform the UN system.
"We are proud to count H.E. Nusseibeh among the members of the Academy’s Board of Trustees. Her career offers our students and the next generation of diplomats a powerful example of what skilled and dedicated diplomacy can achieve.”
Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri
Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director-General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy: “H.E. Lana Nusseibeh’s nomination for the post of United Nations Secretary-General marks a significant milestone in Emirati diplomacy. It reflects a belief that has guided the UAE since its founding. The country’s positive influence in the world begins with investing in its people, and women must have a decisive voice in shaping the nation’s policy and future.
"In putting forward one of its most accomplished diplomats for the UN’s highest office, the UAE affirms its confidence in her experience and ability to bring people together and translate dialogue into action. These qualities are essential at a time when the world urgently needs effective international cooperation. This nomination holds particular significance for the Academy. As a member of our Board of Trustees, H.E. Nusseibeh helps guide our work to prepare future diplomats. Her nomination shows our students how far their aspirations can take them when expertise is grounded in a sense of responsibility and a commitment to serving both their country and the wider world.”
