A 20-year-old Emirati female university student from Ras Al Khaimah, identified as BDKA, succumbed to her injuries from a traffic accident that took place on Al Dhaid Road.
The deceased, accompanied by her colleague, was on her way back from the UAE University in Al Ain City when the accident occurred. Her colleague, who was driving the vehicle, sustained a fracture in one of her hands.
The family of the deceased stated that the victim had originally planned to travel from the university to her home in Ras Al Khaimah by minibus, a routine arrangement she had made with four of her classmates. However, another classmate, who owned a private vehicle, invited the deceased and the others colleagues to join her for the journey home instead.
Speaking during the Majlise-Aza, female relatives of the deceased said she had offered to accompany her colleague—at the latter’s request—specifically to ensure she would not have to drive alone. This gesture of friendship, however, turned into a tragedy following an accident on Al Dhaid Road, they added.
More details showed that a tanker transporting petroleum products veered off its path and entered the lane of the vehicle carrying the two students before it struck the side of the vehicle—on the side where the deceased was seated. This led the driver’s companion to die at the scene, while the driver of the vehicle sustained a fracture in one of her hands.
The deceased’s peers recalled the exemplary character of their colleague, describing her as kind-hearted, benevolent and always quick to help others. Throughout their time together—from childhood and their school years through to their university studies—she was never known to have been involved in any conflict or dispute with any of her peers, they said.
These qualities were consistently reflected in how she interacted with them and they remembered her for her many acts of kindness and humanitarian gestures, they added.
