Over a ten-month span in 2026, Abu Dhabi Police seized 9,237 electric scooters for violating traffic rules and regulations. The infractions primarily involved using these scooters on public roads, amidst motor vehicles, and in non-designated areas, creating substantial safety risks for both riders and other road users.
The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate pointed out several hazardous practices, such as riding electric scooters within traffic flow, ignoring surrounding vehicle movements, and failing to wear helmets or safety gear.

These behaviors have been identified as factors that significantly raise the risk of traffic accidents, leading to serious injuries or even fatalities.
The Directorate stressed the importance of adhering to safety guidelines by riding only in designated areas and lanes, always wearing helmets and protective equipment, and avoiding the use of electric scooters on public roads or alongside motor vehicles. This approach is essential to safeguard both the riders and those around them.
