Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced the launch of three new public transport routes connecting Al Madam, Al Sajaa and Sharjah City to the Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid.
This initiative is part of SRTA’s efforts to enhance integration between public transport modes and expand mobility options for the public by establishing routes that link the emirate’s bus stations to the railway station.
New Routes
The new routes include Route ER1, which connects Al Madam Bus Station to Etihad Rail Station in Al Dhaid, Route ER2, which runs from Al Sajaa Bus Station to the rail station, and Route ER3, which connects Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah City to Etihad Rail Station, providing transport options that link various areas of the emirate to the station.
Trip Durations
Trip durations vary across the three lines depending on the route. While a trip on Route ER1 takes approximately one hour, a trip on Route ER2 takes about 43 minutes and a trip on Route ER3, which departs from Al Jubail Station in Sharjah, takes one hour and 42 minutes.
Stops
Route ER1 features a number of stops between Al Madam and Al Dhaid including Al Madam Sports Club, Al Madam Health Centre, Al Bahayes, Mleiha, Victoria International School, Al Dhaid Industrial Area, Al Dhaid Mall and finally the Civil Defence Station in Al Dhaid before reaching the Etihad Rail station, it said.
Route ER2, on the other hand, features stops at Al Batayeh, Al Dhaid Police Station and Al Dhaid Civil Defence Station, while Route ER3 directly connects Al Jubail Station with the Etihad Rail station, following the route outlined in the Etihad Rail network schedules.
Operating schedule
The published schedule lists 12 trips for Route ER1 departing from Al Madam Station. These include departures at 6:40am, 8:50am, 9:50am, 11:20am, 12:30pm, 2:50pm, 3:20pm, 5pm, 5:50pm, 8pm, 8:40pm and 10:50pm, with arrival times at Al Dhaid Station varying by trip.
The operating schedule for Route ER2 from Al Sajaa Station comprises 12 trips starting at 6:40am and continuing throughout the day with the final trip departing at 8:55pm. Route ER3 includes six trips from Al Jubail Station, departing at 6:40am, 9:50am, 12:30pm, 2:50pm, 5:50pm and 8pm.
Enhancing integration
The operation of the three routes strengthens the connection between the bus network and the Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid by providing routes originating from key stations across the emirate. This enables users to reach the station via public transport and supports the integration of mobility services between Sharjah’s various areas and the railway network.
