His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, instructed Sharjah Department of Town Planning & Survey (SDTPS) to transfer land, previously granted by the government, to its heirs with an immediate effect.
This came on the Direct Line programme with Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, where a caller complained that her brother died and was neither married nor had children but was a partner with her other brother in a petrol station.
Following his death, the land was supposed to be transferred to his heirs but SDTPS refused to do so unless a paper to this effect was brought from the court, she said.
Although the paper was brought, SDTPS nevertheless did not transfer the land, which included a petrol station, shops etc. to the heirs, she added.
Sheikh Sultan also instructed Sharjah City Municipality to follow up on and resolve a complaint from another programme caller regarding a contractor’s delay in completing his project for six months although it was originally scheduled to take only 45 days.
When the caller referred the issue to the municipality, the contractor was given a 20-day deadline to finish the job, he said, adding that although a week already passed, he did not even commenced work.
