The UAE’s National Media Authority (NMA) has announced legal action against a man who posted social media content involving bullying directed at a child of determination, along with inappropriate insinuations that violate societal values and norms.
The authority said it had co-ordinated with the concerned social media platform to take the necessary action against the account and the content creator. It also notified the competent authorities to initiate the required legal proceedings in accordance with applicable laws.
The NMA reiterated its firm rejection of all forms of abuse and bullying, stressing that such behaviour is unacceptable, particularly when it targets children and people of determination.
The authority underscored its commitment to protecting children and people of determination, preserving their dignity and ensuring their safety and well-being. It also emphasised the importance of safeguarding society against content that violates established values and norms.
The action reflects the authority’s efforts to promote responsible behaviour on digital platforms and ensure that social media is used in a manner that respects individuals and their rights.
The NMA called for greater awareness of the responsibility accompanying online activity and the need to uphold societal values in digital spaces.
