His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has instructed the authorities concerned to provide transportation for female students from Sharjah City studying at Sharjah Maritime Academy, Khorfakkan branch, to take them to their families for their weekly break on Thursdays and back to the academy on Sundays.
Sheikh Sultan’s directive came in response to a student’s father who called the Direct Line programme broadcast by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and hosted by Mohammed Al Raisi.
He explained that his daughter was studying marine engineering at the academy and residing in the female student dormitory in Khorfakkan, adding that he was obliged to travel there every Thursday to pick her up and take her home in Sharjah and then return her to the dormitory on Sundays, a routine that caused him hardship and disrupted his work.
Sheikh Sultan immediately contacted the academy’s director and directed that transportation be provided for female students from Sharjah studying at the academy.
Coordination is currently underway between the academy’s administration and that of Sharjah University City to determine the number of students and their places of residence etc. so that transportation is properly provided to them.
