His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, responded to a request from an Emirati woman known as Umm Maryam by granting her daughter a scholarship at the University of Sharjah to complete the remaining year and a half of her studies.
The woman made her request during a conversation with Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, on the Direct Line programme. Umm Maryam explained that she was married to a Kuwaiti national and her daughter had been sent to study at the University of Sharjah on a scholarship.
After the father’s citizenship was revoked by his country, the daughter’s scholarship was cancelled, nearly forcing her to abandon her studies, she said.
Before the caller could finish explaining her situation, Khalaf shared the good news of Sheikh Sultan’s directive, which was issued immediately after he heard her story.
