Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced the completion of the partial opening for traffic movement between University City and the Fairground, by providing 2 lanes in each direction, starting from Industrial Area 17 passing through the University Bridge, as part of the construction works for the access roads project to Etihad Rail station.
The SRTA explained that the traffic diversion towards Mleiha Road will continue to be used, along with providing alternative lanes for surrounding services, ensuring the continuity of traffic flow during the work execution period, which contributes to facilitating the movement of road users and access to areas and destinations surrounding the project.
The partial opening reportedly comes within the implementation phases of the project, which aims to develop the road network leading to Etihad Rail station, and raise the efficiency of the connection between surrounding areas, supporting the flow of movement and enhancing the readiness of the road network to accommodate traffic associated with the station.
The application of the traffic diversion started as of Tuesday, Oct.6, 2026, and continues until Nov.29, 2026.
The traffic plans allegedly include specific lanes for existing and alternative movement, while maintaining access lanes to areas located within the scope of work, according to the approved arrangements during the execution period.
The plan routes illustrate the work zones and alternative roads, helping road users choose the appropriate path, reducing the impact of works on daily movement, and maintaining ease of access to various destinations.
