Pakistan's top military commanders on Friday warned that any attempt to trigger agitation or create a May 9, 2023-like situation will be met with decisive force and the rule of law, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The warning came during the 277th Corps Commanders' Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The May 9, 2023 violence and chaos was created by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI). The statement said that the forum reviewed the prevailing security environment and resolved that any attempt to create agitation or a "May 9-like" situation on any pretext would be dealt with decisively under the rule of law, without hesitation or discrimination.
Turning to the regional security situation, the forum reaffirmed Pakistan's right to self-defence and targeted action against terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
The conference also offered Fateha for the martyrs of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and civil society.
On regional and international affairs, the forum welcomed the Makkah Defence Alliance signing between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The commanders also condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia. It expressed solidarity with the Kingdom and reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain.
