In a qualitative operation to combat the scourge of drugs, Dubai Police has foiled a plot to promote 2 tonnes and 323 kilograms of narcotic pills and psychotropic substances inside the country, with an estimated market value of AED 115,191,233. The Force also arrested 14 Asian suspects linked to an organised crime ring abroad.
The seized items included a variety of narcotic pills such as Xanax, Tramadol, and Lyrica, along with Alcon Mydriacyl drops, crystal meth, marijuana, and papers laced with various narcotic substances.
Information Leads to the Ring
The case began when the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police received information about an organized crime ring preparing to distribute a large quantity of narcotics and psychotropic pills within the country. Specialized teams immediately began investigative work to verify the information while conducting precise field surveillance to identify those involved in the plot and determine their roles and movements.
The investigations and field surveillance enabled security teams to identify the individuals linked to the case and build a comprehensive picture of the criminal plot, leading them to determine the right time to carry out a simultaneous operation to arrest all suspects and prevent them from escaping justice.
Tight Security Plan
Based on the findings of the investigation and field surveillance, Dubai Police developed a tight security plan, arranging the targets according to pre-determined priorities. Security teams successfully executed the plan and arrested the suspects one by one, bringing the total number of arrests to 14 Asian suspects, while seizing and holding the narcotic substances in custody and completing the legal procedures related to the case.
113 Cartons
The operation resulted in the seizure of 2 tonnes and 323 kilograms of narcotic pills and psychotropic substances, hidden inside 113 cartons and with an estimated market value of AED 115,191,233.
In addition to the pills, Dubai Police seized other types of narcotic substances, including crystal meth, marijuana, and papers laced with narcotic substances, revealing the diversity of substances the ring sought to distribute within the country.
Investigations with the suspects revealed their connection to an organized crime ring abroad. Legal procedures have been taken against them in preparation for referring them to the competent judicial authorities.
Community Protection
Dubai Police affirmed its continued efforts to combat the scourge of drugs and confront the criminal networks and rings that attempt to target the community's security and safety. The Force stressed that protecting the community, especially the youth, from the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances is a security priority, and that the competent authorities will continue to pursue drug dealers and promoters and take firm action against anyone attempting to harm community security and the safety of its members.
