Dubai Police arrest gang of 22 beggars playing the sympathy card with motorists

The security teams at the Dubai Police have arrested a gang of 22 individuals involved in organized begging on several major roads across the emirate. This action followed a report submitted through the "Police Eye" service on the Dubai Police app, which revealed the gang's strategy. They played on drivers' sympathies by claiming they needed cash for travel expenses, allowing authorities to monitor their activities and apprehend them.

The situation came to attention after reports of people stopping drivers on the roads, pretending to be stranded and requiring money for travel. Once alerted, specialised field teams swiftly began an investigation, successfully identifying a suspect and tracking his movements. 

Further investigations uncovered that this was not a single incident but a coordinated operation across multiple key sites, such as Al Khor Street, Ras Al Khor, the area around Bu Kadra Bridge, and the Dubai-Al Ain Road bridge. 

Through comprehensive surveillance and intelligence efforts, authorities developed a security plan that led to the arrest of all gang members and initiated the necessary legal actions against them. 

Dubai Police highlighted the crucial role that community members play in supporting security agencies and tackling illegal activities. They mentioned that a report submitted through the "Police Eye" platform was instrumental in uncovering these actions and capturing those involved, underscoring the significance of community collaboration in bolstering the security and safety network. 

The force pointed out that begging on major roads is more than just a legal violation, it represents a major risk to both the beggars and other road users. This practice involves stopping in hazardous locations or on busy roads, which can lead to dangerous situations. They encouraged the public not to respond to such approaches and to refrain from stopping in areas that could jeopardize their safety or that of others. 

Dubai Police urged community members to promptly report such incidents through the "Police Eye" platform, accessible via the Dubai Police app, reassuring citizens that all reports are treated with utmost confidentiality. Timely reporting allows specialized teams to quickly identify and address these violations, thereby enhancing the security and safety of the community.
