Ride-hailing service focuses on customers' safety

“The UAE has one of the world’s most advanced mobility ecosystems, and users today expect more than simply getting from point A to point B keeping mind convenience, safety, affordability, and flexibility depending on the purpose of their trip.

“We focus on combining smart technology with local mobility needs,” said Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head, Yango Group Middle East in an exclusive interview with Gulf Today in Dubai.

“Through features such as real-time trip tracking, route sharing, emergency assistance tools, driver verification, and AI-powered matching, we aim to make every journey more convenient and reliable. At the same time, we continue to work closely with local transport authorities and licensed fleet partners to ensure our services align with the UAE’s regulatory and mobility objectives,” he said.

The firm currently works with licensed fleet partners operating approximately 20,000 vehicles across the UAE, including both limousine and city taxi categories. Through these partnerships, around 30,000 drivers actively use the service.

“We believe driver wellbeing is essential to building a sustainable mobility ecosystem. We regularly implement initiatives designed to support and recognise drivers, including Ramadan Iftar distribution, driver engagement and reward initiatives, driver dream project, voices from home and insurance support programmes.”

Talking about the trends among residents, he said, “Users are increasingly choosing different transport solutions depending on the occasion, whether it is daily commuting, airport transfers, business travel, family transportation, or school-related journeys.

“We expanded School Rides to 11 school destinations this September, helping parents organise regular journeys around the school timetable, in response to increasing demand. Corporate bookings also pick up during the busy conference and exhibition season, when teams need to make several trips between meetings and event venues throughout the day. We are also seeing greater interest in shared and optimised mobility solutions that help reduce congestion while maintaining convenience,” he said.

The back-to-school period traditionally brings one of the most significant shifts in commuting patterns across the UAE.

“We expect to see increased traffic volumes during morning and afternoon peak hours, particularly around residential communities and school clusters such Al Barsha South, Al Sufouh, Umm Al Sheif, Deira and Dubai Motor City, in Dubai as well as, Khalifa City and routes connecting it with Zayed City in Abu Dhabi,” he added.
