Sharjah Police recover stolen car in record time

Thanks to the swift response and readiness of specialised teams, Sharjah Police quickly recovered a stolen vehicle that had been left operating. The car was located within two hours of being reported missing, leading to the suspect's arrest and the vehicle's return to its owner.

The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, Sept.24, 2026, when a woman reported her car stolen to the operations room. Specialised teams immediately began field operations, and the suspect was subsequently taken to the police station for further legal proceedings.

Sharjah Police stressed that leaving vehicles operating, even for short periods, increases the risk of theft by opportunistic individuals and is considered a traffic violation. They stressed the need for preventive measures to protect vehicles and property.

Drivers are urged not to leave their cars operating while stepping away for errands at places like shops, gas stations, or ATMs. It is recommended to switch off the engine, lock the doors securely, and ensure no valuables are left inside to protect property.

Moreover, Sharjah Police also urged community members to call 999 for emergencies and 901 for inquiries and non-emergency matters.
