An accident took place on Umm Suqeim Street, heading towards Jumeirah Street, when a driver lost control of the vehicle after losing consciousness. This led to the vehicle veering off course and crashing into other cars.
Traffic accident experts arrived promptly to carry out investigations and collect evidence. Meanwhile, traffic patrols managed the flow of traffic, secured the area, assisted the arrival of ambulance and rescue vehicles, and worked to clear the damaged vehicle from the road, ensuring traffic returned to normal swiftly and without major disruptions.
Dubai Police General Headquarters has warned about the dangers of driving while extremely fatigued, drowsy, or suffering from health issues like abnormal blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, heart disease, psychological disorders, or episodes of loss of consciousness.
They stressed that these conditions can cause serious traffic accidents, potentially resulting in fatalities or severe injuries.
Brigadier Jumaa Salem Bin Suwaidan, the Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, mentioned that some drivers might overlook minor symptoms that can quickly lead to severe accidents. Losing consciousness while driving stands out as particularly hazardous because it results in the driver losing control in mere seconds, putting both their life and others in jeopardy.
He stressed the importance of regular medical check-ups, especially for those with chronic health conditions or those who spend extensive periods on the road. Such situations can cause physical and mental exhaustion, heightening the risk of sudden health issues.
Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of taking sufficient breaks during long trips and urged drivers to stop right away if they experience unusual health symptoms like dizziness or sudden fatigue.
