VIDEO: Abu Dhabi Police caution against improper use of e-scooters, highlight potential risks

Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Centre, has called on community members to use electric scooters responsibly by following traffic laws and using designated lanes.

Authorities have pointed out the dangers of improper scooter use, such as accidents and injuries that pose risks to both riders and others, and highlighted the need for public awareness regarding safe and responsible transportation practices.

The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate stressed the importance of riding electric scooters within assigned lanes and areas, advising against their use on main roads, in traffic, or in crowded places. They highlighted the need for wearing helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads, along with following safety measures that help prevent accidents and reduce injuries.VIDE

Parents are also advised to enhance supervision and awareness efforts to protect children from the hazards of unsafe electric scooter use.

This includes monitoring their activities, guiding them to stay in designated lanes, ensuring they wear protective gear, and educating them about the risks of unsafe actions. These efforts aim to cultivate a culture of road safety and shield individuals from accidents.

Finally, the police urged electric scooter riders to avoid behaviors that put themselves or others at risk and to ride with awareness and responsibility by respecting the rights of other road users.

Abu Dhabi Police stressed that adhering to traffic safety measures is a shared duty that requires a collective effort from the community. They also confirmed their dedication to continuing awareness campaigns focused on promoting positive traffic behaviors and decreasing accidents, in line with their strategic goals of achieving advanced road security and ensuring a safe, sustainable traffic environment for everyone.
