UAE investments in Africa approach $150 billion, says Gargash

Dr Anwar Bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, highlighted the UAE’s growing engagement with Africa, saying the country recognised early that the global landscape was changing and that stronger ties with the continent should be built through direct partnerships.

“The UAE’s investment, development and humanitarian engagement with the African continent represents a remarkable success story,” Gargash said in a post on X.

He said the UAE understood early on that its engagement with Africa and the development of partnerships across the continent should not necessarily pass through the European and Western gateway.

Gargash noted the significant growth in economic ties between the UAE and Africa, saying annual trade between the two sides now exceeds $107 billion.

He added that UAE investments across the African continent are approaching $150 billion, underlining the scale of the country’s economic engagement with African markets.

Gargash described the expanding relationship as another success for a UAE policy focused on diversifying partnerships, deepening cooperation and establishing direct links with a changing global economy.

The UAE has increasingly developed economic, investment, development and humanitarian partnerships across Africa, reflecting its broader approach of building direct relationships with countries and regions around the world.

Gargash said the UAE-Africa relationship demonstrates the value of establishing partnerships based on direct engagement and long-term cooperation.
