Dubai Police warn against fake accounts selling Global Village packages

Dubai Police warned against fake accounts on the web and social media platforms, promoting the sale of the new season's packages for “Global Village” at tempting and fraudulent prices, aiming to defraud victims and seize their money and personal data.

This warning coincides with the Global Village announcement regarding the release of exclusive VIP packages for its 31st season in phases, exclusively through the “Coca-Cola Arena” website.

It starts with the pre-purchase phase as of Sept.21 to 25, which allows guests to pre-purchase their packages for an additional fee, followed by the public sale phase starting from Sept.26.

Dubai Police affirmed that this fraudulent method is repeated annually with the announcement of the start of Global Village activities, as scammers resort to creating and replicating accounts and electronic pages similar to official pages.

This misleads the public into believing they are authorised entities, and tricks them into completing fake purchases or disclosing their data.

Dubai Police emphasised the importance of obtaining tickets and packages through official and authorised channels only, and not deal with links or accounts of anonymous origin, to protect money and data and ensure the safety of purchase operations.

They called on community members to exercise caution and not be swayed by fake offers or unrealistic prices, and to report any fraudulent attempts, suspicious accounts, or links through the “e-Crime” platform, or via the "901” call centre, to reduce cybercrimes and protect community members.
