Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a man to pay Dhs30,000 as compensation to a woman for insulting her through a social media application.
In the details, a woman filed a lawsuit against a man requesting he be ordered to pay her Dhs100,000 as compensation for the material and psychological harm she incurred, as well as ordering him to pay fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
The complainant stated in her lawsuit that the appellee insulted her using an information technology means, and a criminal case was filed against him which resulted in his conviction.
The court explained that it is established according to the Civil Transactions Law that every harm to others obligates the doer to provide compensation, and indicated that it was proved from the previous criminal judgment that the appellee insulted the complainant, whereby the court deemed that compensating the complainant for all moral and psychological damages with an amount of Dhs30,000 was sufficient.
