Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of Foreign Trade, underscored the critical importance of upholding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, making it clear that any efforts to limit this right are unacceptable. He emphasised that securing freedom of navigation in this crucial passage is a top priority for the UAE and all member nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
At the third edition of the Hili 2026 Forum in Abu Dhabi, Al Zeyoudi highlighted the consensus against allowing any coastal country around the Strait to impose control or influence over passage rights. He stressed that international waterways must remain accessible and free from constraints to facilitate global trade.
He further pointed out that the past six months have posed significant challenges, yet the UAE's exemplary response has showcased its resilience and adaptability, guided by its wise leadership. He mentioned that the UAE has turned successive challenges into concrete opportunities and successes through determination and a renewed vision, reinforcing its commitment to supporting global trade and serving as a crucial link between the world's continents.
