Sharjah court orders CCTV review in workshop fire case

Sharjah Misdemeanour Court looked into a case in which an Asian national was charged with accidentally causing a fire in a workshop he owned, and in a neighbouring company, and damaging a number of vehicles.

According to the case files, the fire broke out in the workshop owned by the suspect, before the flames spread to the neighbouring company, causing it to be completely burnt and damaging a number of vehicles parked next to it.

The forensic laboratory report also stated that the fire resulted from heat emanating from an electrical generator in the workshop.

When the court confronted the suspect with the charges, he denied them saying that the fire broke out at 2am and that he was not at the site at that time, demanding that the surveillance cameras be checked.

The Sharjah Misdemeanour Court ordered the postponement of the case to examine the surveillance cameras and for the suspect to submit a defence memorandum.
