Sheikh Sultan raises minimum standard of living to Dhs20,000 for citizens in Sharjah

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has mandated to increase the minimum standard of living for families receiving social assistance from the Sharjah government to Dhs20,000.

This change will positively impact 6,652 families, incurring an annual cost of Dhs195.130 million, starting from Sept.1, 2026. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Head of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, made this announcement on (The Direct Line).

Additionally, Sheikh Sultan has ordered that the minimum standard of living for Sharjah government retirees be raised to Dhs20,000. This measure will assist 2,251 retirees with an annual expenditure of Dhs113.056.

Furthermore, the decision to increase the minimum standard of living to Dhs20,000 has been extended to retirees outside the Sharjah government who receive supplementary grants.

This will benefit 5,300 citizens, costing Dhs159 million annually. His Highness also ensured that Sharjah government employees' standard of living is enhanced with a minimum salary of Dhs20,000. This adjustment will benefit 17,776 employees at an annual cost exceeding Dhs720 million.

Sheikh Sultan also directed an increase in the net salary for employees with university degree to Dhs27,125.

This announcement was made by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Head of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, on the "Direct Line" programme.

Additionally, the salary for employees with a high school certificate will be raised to Dhs20,950, up from Dhs17,500, post-deductions.
