Sharjah extends water network to Al Sahab Rest Area at cost of Dhs50 million

As part of Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority’s (SEWA) plans to enhance the water security system and develop water infrastructure in the city of Khor Fakkan, SEWA has completed an integrated project to extend water to Al Sahab Rest Area in Khor Fakkan at a total cost estimated at around Dhs50 million, in implementation of the vision and directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Engineer Saud Abdulaziz, Director of the Khor Fakkan Department at SEWA, said that the project is considered one of the quality projects due to the mountainous nature of the area and the engineering challenges.

He pointed out that the project included the implementation of a water network approximately 7 kilometres long, in addition to pumping stations, tanks and associated facilities, according to engineering solutions suited to the nature of the terrain and ensuring the efficiency and continuity of water supply.

Abdulaziz affirmed that the project is not limited to serving Al Sahab Rest Area only, but the network has been designed to serve all facilities and sites located along the project route, with the addition of future connection points to serve the Hayawa 3 residential area, allowing for the network to expand in the future and meet the needs of the area as water demand grows.

The project reflects the SEWA’s direction toward implementing integrated infrastructure that not only meets current needs, but also takes into account the requirements of future urban expansion, thereby enhancing the efficiency and flexibility of the water system in the city of Khor Fakkan, Abdulaziz added.
