Rumours of Pakistan's ex-FM Bilawal Bhutto's marriage in Europe make waves online

Speculation over Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's personal life has surfaced after reports about his engagement during his visit to Europe, with the unverified stories placing his purported fiancée in Liechtenstein, said a report.

The claims suggest that she is from Vaduz, a small European country's capital. They also allege that President Asif Ali Zardari has now travelled to Liechtenstein with other family members to discuss arrangements for his son's wedding, which is reportedly expected to take place later this year.

The PPP, however, has dismissed the reports, leaving the engagement and wedding claims unconfirmed.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who also serves as a spokesperson for Bilawal, said on social media that reports about the PPP chairman's engagement or marriage were "incorrect and unfounded.”

There has been no official announcement from Bilawal or his family confirming an engagement, meaning the reported development remains unverified.

Liechtenstein is a small sovereign state in Western Europe, located between Switzerland and Austria. Its capital, Vaduz, is the country's political and administrative centre.

Bilawal has previously spoken publicly about marriage without revealing details about a potential spouse or wedding date.

During the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2022, a journalist asked Bilawal, who was then the foreign minister, about his marriage plans. Smiling, he had replied, "Of course, I have plans to marry,” but did not provide further details when asked when he intended to tie the knot.

Bilawal had also spoken about the subject in 2016, saying his future bride would first have to "win over the hearts” of his sisters.

"The right candidate will first have to win over the hearts of my sisters. I have to take them into confidence. And winning over the hearts of my sisters is a very difficult task for any girl,” he had said.
