The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced a partial road closure and traffic diversion from Industrial Area 17 towards Maleha Street, starting August 26, 2026 (Wednesday), and lasting until Monday, October 5, 2026. This initiative is part of the access road project for the Etihad Rail Station.
To minimize disruption, alternative routes will be facilitated for road users to reach nearby services and facilities. Traffic will be managed based on the approved traffic plan, ensuring that destinations within the work zone remain accessible.
The maps will highlight alternative routes in green and designate work zones and traffic diversions in red. This color-coding assists drivers in identifying appropriate routes, particularly at intersections and on roads leading to Maleha Street and the areas around University City and the Institute Land.
While the closure and diversion are underway, traffic will be partially accessible between University City and the Institute Land. Two lanes in each direction will be available, beginning from Industrial Area 17, crossing over University Bridge, and continuing to University City.
This traffic management strategy is essential for advancing the access roads project to Etihad Rail Station. It aims to maintain traffic flow on existing routes and provide necessary alternatives for locations and facilities within the project zone.
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) advises road users to comply with the diversions and designated routes, observe directional signs and traffic safety instructions, plan their journeys in advance, and consider using alternative routes. This approach will help facilitate smoother traffic flow and ensure the safety of road users during the project's duration.
